Kurdistan: An Arbitrary Kurdish detainee released temporarily after posting bail

On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Morad Ostowar, aged 45 from “Peswe” in Piranshar (Piranshahr), was temporarily released from Naghadeh Prison upon posting bail, pending the conclusion of legal proceedings.


According to reports obtained by the Kurdistan Human Rights Association in Geneva, on the early morning of January 20, 2025, Iranian security forces raided the residence of this Mr. Ostowar without presenting a judicial warrant and subsequently arrested him. Following the completion of the interrogation process, he was transferred from one of the security detention facilities in Urmia to Naghadeh Prison.


Morad Ostowar is married and the father of two children.


At the time of this report, no specific information has been obtained regarding the reasons for his arrest or the charges against him.
